The BRL10FR includes the same Patented Clutch as all Kolver Screwdrivers and an upgraded Brushless DC motor. Brushless DC motors have several advantages as compared to standard motors using Carbon Brushes.

Why Brushless:

  • Higher RPM: The standard equivalent model FAB10 runs at a max of 650 RPM a full 50% slower than the BRL10AS. Because Brushless motor commutation is accomplished electronically, brushless DC motors are capable of very high speeds and torque without arcing.
  • Higher Duty cycles: Brushless motors have a lower thermal resistance and are capable of operating in a wider temperature range.
  • Sophisticated motion control capabilities: The lack of brushes allows the BRL Series to have a broad closed-loop speed range. Also, brushless motors have a higher torque to inertia ratio, high starting energies, and high breakaway torques.
  • Small and lighter: Because they have lower thermal resistance, are capable of operating in wider temperature ranges, have higher torque to inertia ratios, and have greater acceleration, smaller brushless DC motors can do the same job that their much larger counterparts would otherwise be used for. This results in an overall cost reduction.
  • No brushes means a maintenance reduction and no brush residue contamination to bearings or the environment. There is no arcing associated with brushes, and therefore, are safer in explosive environments. Brushless DC motors are also safer in contact with fluids than brush DC motors.
  • Quieter: Because there is no brush arcing or brush commutation, brushless motors are much quieter both electrically and audibly.

Like all Kolver Clutch Control Screwdriver these tools offer ease of use, have high accuracy and durability. They are lightweight (less than 1 lb), compact, powerful and come standard with ESD-safe housing certified to SP method 2472 (Ericsson approved). The adjustable RPMs and slow-start options make it a versatile tool ideal for multiple applications.

The torque is set externally: an adjusting nut controls output torque by changing the clutch spring compression. A reference scale will indicate the torque setting. The low voltage 30 VDC rare earth motor combines high performance and long life. Replacing the carbon brushes once a year is all you need for maintenance. The motor works in combination with a control unit. The electronic control circuit cuts the power supply to the motor in response to the clutch action, as soon as the pre-set torque has been reached.

A Controller is required for this tool to operate (purchased separately). Choose a Controller from the list below. The EDU1BR is our most popular controller because of the RMP control it provides. The EDU1BR/SG offers the same functionality with the addition of an input for remote start and outputs for lever start (motor on) and clutch fired (motor stop).

Items that ship with this unit:
  • Screwdriver with ESD-safe body
  • 8 ft controller connection cable
  • Suspension bail

NOTES: The heavy-duty cables and connectors, developed for robotic applications, are made of antistatic dissipative material for a safe use in ESD environment.

One or more of the following items are required for Model #BRL10FR
Controller for low torque brushless screwdrivers
Controller for low torque brushless screwdrivers
Controller for low torque brushless screwdrivers with IO
Controller for low torque brushless screwdrivers with IO
