PLUTO-CA Multi Spindle application
Posted By: Jim Chase on Jun 9, 2009
Multi Spindle applications are popular across a wide range of assembly operations. The solutions available in the past range from Pneumatic systems that do not provide any data feed-back to expensive Transducer controlled systems. Until now nothing has been available in-between the two approaches to the process.
Kolver's PLUTO CA screwdrivers offer a new alternative to Multi-Spindle applications. The PLUTO CA DC-Electric screwdrivers run off the same intelligent EDU1AE Controller as all the other Kolver PLUTO products. The system provides for a tightening strategy to be setup that includes a RPM profile and torque setting to fit the requirements of the joint. Joints are pass/failed based on a time window and pre-calibrated torque setting.
A new reciprocating spindle design for the PLUTO screwdrivers allows the tools to be easily deployed in Multi-Spindle applications. The reciprocating spindle ensures all the screws are tightened simultaneously. The control system monitors the EDU1AE Controller for each screwdriver looking for a pass/fail signal. If one screw in the assembly fails due to the time window or torque setting not be met the entire assembly is failed. The number of completed assemblies are counted and displayed.
